Nasdaq Data Link
Nasdaq Data Link
Nasdaq's data platform for financial, economic and alternative datasets, delivered by API with Python, R, Excel and SQL tools. Formerly Quandl: Nasdaq bought Quandl in 2018 and relaunched its platform as Nasdaq Data Link in September 2021.
Coverage
Curated catalog of financial, economic and alternative data products from 21 listed publishers, 14 of them Nasdaq-branded (others include Quandl, Sharadar, CB Insights and MAREX). Nasdaq says it "offers both free and premium data", but all 206 products in its catalog search were labeled Premium on Oct 20, 2026; most premium feeds include free sample data. Alternative data is licensed to institutions only. Coverage, history and update frequency vary by product; check each product page.
Verdict
Worth it when you or your employer pay for a specific feed, such as Sharadar's US equity prices and fundamentals, and want one API and Python package for it. It isn't a practical free source: a free key mainly unlocks sample data, every product in the catalog search was labeled Premium on Oct 20, 2026, and alternative data is sold to institutions only. Use the nasdaq-data-link Python package; the old quandl package hasn't had a release since November 2021.
