European Central Bank RSS feeds

Official ECB RSS feeds for press releases, speeches, interviews, press conference transcripts, publications and exchange-rate updates. The press feed is public XML with titles, links, categories and publication timestamps.

Required Attribution:

Required: "When such information is distributed or reproduced, it must appear accurately and the ECB must be cited as the source."

Coverage

ECB communications and selected market-information feeds. The press RSS checked here is a rolling list of current releases and contained 15 items; it is not a complete historical archive. Feed timing follows publication on the ECB site.

Verdict

A central-bank news trigger for policy, supervision and communications events. Timestamp records in UTC and archive the feed because it is a current rolling window. Reproduced information must remain accurate and cite the ECB; state modifications, and apply the extra notice when ECB information is placed in documents that are sold.

Load into pandas and Parquet

Needs Python 3 with requests, pandas and pyarrow.

python
"""ECB press-release RSS -> pandas -> Parquet. No key."""
import xml.etree.ElementTree as ET
import requests
import pandas as pd

URL = "https://www.ecb.europa.eu/rss/press.html"
r = requests.get(URL, timeout=30)
r.raise_for_status()
root = ET.fromstring(r.content)
rows = []
for item in root.findall("./channel/item"):
    rows.append({name: item.findtext(name) for name in ("title", "link", "category", "pubDate")})
df = pd.DataFrame(rows)
df["pubDate"] = pd.to_datetime(df["pubDate"], utc=True)
df.to_parquet("ecb_press.parquet", index=False)
print(len(df), "items", df["pubDate"].min().isoformat(), "to", df["pubDate"].max().isoformat())

Limits

  • Rate limit: Not stated.
  • Feed retention and item count are not stated; observed 2026-10-30: the press feed contained 15 items.

Quirks

  • Parse pubDate with utc=True; the source timestamp includes an offset.
  • Archive items for history because the feed is a rolling list.
  • The RSS page also lists speeches, interviews, publications and exchange-rate feeds.

Terms and attribution

  • Reproduce ECB information accurately and cite the ECB.
  • State modifications. If the information is put in a document that is sold, notify buyers that it is available free on the ECB site.
  • Named-author papers have a separate prior-written-permission rule.
