No official public API. Unofficial libraries (e.g. yfinance, which says it is "not affiliated, endorsed, or vetted by Yahoo") call undocumented endpoints. Yahoo's Terms of Service prohibit accessing or collecting data from its services by automated means (robots, spiders, scrapers) "for any purpose without our express, prior permission."
Coverage
Quotes, charts and historical data for stocks and indices on many US and international exchanges, plus US futures (CME, CBOT, NYMEX, COMEX, ICE), currency rates and cryptocurrencies. Delays range from real-time to 30 minutes depending on exchange (Yahoo's help page lists each). No official API; Yahoo says data is for informational purposes only and must not be redistributed.
Verdict
Unofficial access. Yahoo's terms prohibit automated data collection without Yahoo's prior permission, with no personal-use exception. Tools like yfinance aren't affiliated with Yahoo and rely on undocumented endpoints Yahoo doesn't support, so they can change or stop working without notice. Don't build production systems or redistributed datasets on it.
