J-Quants API
Japan Exchange Group's J-Quants API: daily prices, valuation indicators, financial summaries and earnings dates for Tokyo Stock Exchange stocks, from JPX Market Innovation & Research. J-Quants is the data API of Japan Exchange Group's JPX Market Innovation & Research. It serves Tokyo Stock Exchange listed stocks: the listed-issue master, daily prices (OHLC), valuation indicators, financial summaries, earnings dates and a trading calendar. You need a free account and an API key sent as the x-api-key header.
The Free plan costs ¥0, covers 2 years of history delayed by 12 weeks, and allows 5 calls a minute. Paid plans (Light, Standard, Premium) add history, indices, margin data and more. The free plan is cancelled automatically after one year, and you can re-subscribe.
The service is limited to private use by individuals, per J-Quants' own help page and terms. It is not for companies, for commercial or academic work, or for giving the data to others. After you cancel, the data you acquired must be deleted.
Required Attribution:
Not required for private, non-public personal use (J-Quants help). Nothing is stated for other uses. Using the J-Quants logo or words such as "official", "partnered" or "Powered by" is prohibited.
Coverage
Stocks listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange only; Free plan: 2 years of daily history ending 12 weeks ago, Listed Issue Master, daily prices (OHLC), valuation indicators, financial summaries, earnings dates and calendar (March/September fiscal year-end only), trading calendar; no CSV download (checked Oct 28, 2026)
Good for
- Pull daily prices, valuation indicators and financial summaries for Tokyo Stock Exchange stocks for your own analysis, with a 12-week lag on the Free plan
- Check the listed-issue master and the trading calendar before building a Japan-only screen
- Compare what the Free plan includes with the Light, Standard and Premium plans before paying
Verdict
Private use by individuals only: J-Quants says use by corporations, giving data to third parties, and apps built on the data by individuals are prohibited, and its terms say commercial or academic use is not "own use". Free data is always 12 weeks old (no recent prices), the free plan ends after one year, and the data must be deleted after you cancel. Tokyo-listed stocks only.
